Occupational Therapists (OTs) Near You in Sydney

Zenzability provides occupational therapy to NDIS participants across Sydney, working with children, teenagers, and adults who need practical support to manage daily life with greater confidence. Our therapists take a calm, respectful approach, building trust with each person and working through everyday challenges in a way that’s personalised and achievable.

For some participants, therapy means learning how to complete morning routines without support, prepare food safely, or manage time and tasks throughout the day. For others, it might involve strategies to reduce overwhelm in busy environments, improve concentration, or respond more calmly to frustration or change. Many families come to us for help with physical coordination, sensory processing, or emotional regulation that’s getting in the way of school, social situations, or basic self-care.

We also help identify the right assistive technology when it can make tasks easier—whether it’s something small like adapted cutlery or more involved equipment for mobility, bathing, or communication. If your home needs to be safer or more accessible, our occupational therapists can assess the property and prepare formal recommendations for modifications that align with NDIS funding criteria.

Participants often work with us over time as their needs change. Some need one-off assessments for a plan review. Others need consistent therapy that builds on progress week by week. No matter what your situation looks like, our therapists bring a practical mindset and years of experience to every session. We meet you where you are and work together toward greater independence and participation in everyday life.

If you live in Sydney and have an NDIS plan, Zenzability can provide occupational therapy in your area. We deliver mobile therapy across the city, visiting participants at home, school, or in community settings—wherever therapy is most effective and comfortable. Whether you’re in the Inner West, South West Sydney, Western Sydney, or the Northern Suburbs, our therapists travel to you.

We regularly support participants in suburbs like Parramatta, Campbelltown, Liverpool, Penrith, Bankstown, Blacktown, and surrounding areas. Our team also covers the Hills District, Canterbury–Bankstown, Sutherland Shire, Eastern Suburbs, and parts of the Inner City. If you’re unsure whether your suburb is included, just get in touch and we’ll let you know.

For participants who prefer remote sessions or live in harder-to-reach locations, we also offer therapy via telehealth where appropriate. This gives you the option to continue receiving support even if in-person sessions aren’t possible every week.

Therapy is delivered by occupational therapists who understand how the NDIS works and how to support participants in everyday settings—not just in theory, but in the places you live, learn, and interact. Whether you need short-term intervention, assessment for funding, or long-term support across multiple goals, we’re here to help make therapy accessible near you.

Areas where occupational therapy can help

Our occupational therapy helps with what actually matters day to day. That might mean helping a child get dressed without needing constant help, supporting a teenager to plan their school routine, or working with an adult to manage fatigue, anxiety, or pain at work or home.

We work with you to build independence in essential everyday activities—such as dressing, showering, cooking, and personal hygiene—so you can manage your daily routines with greater confidence and less reliance on others.

Our OTs assess your home environment and recommend practical changes, like grab rails, ramps, or accessible bathrooms, to make your living space safer and more functional for your needs.

We identify, recommend, and train you in the use of assistive technology—from adaptive cutlery and mobility aids to communication devices and power wheelchairs—helping you participate more fully in life.

Comprehensive assessments are completed to document current abilities and support needs. Reports are often used as supporting evidence when applying for NDIS funding or requesting plan reviews, helping to justify the level and type of support required.

We deliver targeted therapy to improve fine and gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and sensory processing, supporting individuals with sensory or neurological needs.

Support includes guidance for using public transport, shopping, or joining social and recreational activities, with the aim of building connection and independence outside the home.
We help develop skills for school or work, including organisational strategies, adapting learning or workplace environments, and creating routines that support success in education or employment.

Getting started with occupational therapy is simple

Step 1: Get in touch

Reach out to our friendly team by phone, email, or through our online enquiry form. We’ll answer your questions, explain our services, and help you understand how occupational therapy can support your goals under the NDIS.

Step 2: Discuss your goals

We’ll arrange a time for an initial conversation—either over the phone or in person. During this chat, we’ll get to know you, discuss your needs, and learn about what’s important to you. Together, we’ll identify the areas you’d like support with and how we can help you achieve greater independence and quality of life.

Step 3: Start your therapy sessions

Once your plan is in place, your occupational therapist will visit you at home, school, or in the community—wherever you feel most comfortable. We’ll work alongside you to build practical skills, overcome challenges, and make progress towards your personal goals.

Frequently asked questions

We work with NDIS participants as well as private clients. If you have a Medicare referral from your GP—such as a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan—you may be able to claim a Medicare rebate for a limited number of occupational therapy sessions each year.

However, Medicare rebates only cover part of the session fee, and we don’t bulk bill. You’ll need to pay the full fee upfront, then claim the rebate from Medicare. If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible or need help understanding how it works, we’re happy to walk you through the process.

We also support clients paying privately or through NDIS funding. Whether you’re self-managed, plan-managed, or coming through Medicare, you can contact us to discuss the best way to get started.

We work on the physical, cognitive, and sensory skills that make daily tasks easier to manage. That includes how someone moves, how they respond to their surroundings, and how they follow through on a task from start to finish. We look at what’s getting in the way—whether it’s balance, grip, sequencing, attention, or regulation—and build practical strategies that make the activity possible.

Support may include dressing, toileting, mealtime routines, handwriting, using two hands together, following instructions, or coping with noisy or unpredictable environments. We don’t work from a list. We build therapy around the specific things the person is struggling to do on their own.

We also provide clear recommendations, assistive technology advice, and reports required for plan reassessments or capacity-building goals. Every part of the service is tied to daily life—what the person does, where they struggle, and what needs to change to make the task easier.

Anyone with an approved NDIS plan that includes funding for occupational therapy can access OT services. OTs work with children, adults, and seniors with a wide range of physical, cognitive, psychosocial, or sensory disabilities.
OTs help with a broad range of goals, such as improving self-care skills (like dressing and showering), increasing independence at home, enhancing mobility, building social and communication skills, managing sensory sensitivities, and supporting participation in education or employment.
Occupational therapists assess how someone moves through their home and identify barriers to safety, access, or independence. Recommendations may include grab rails near toilets or showers, ramps for easier entry, wider doorways for mobility equipment, or changes to bench heights and layouts. Adjustments are based on how the person uses the space and what needs to change to make daily tasks safer and less reliant on support.
OTs offer sensory integration therapy and practical strategies to help manage sensory sensitivities, such as using sensory-friendly tools, developing coping techniques, and creating structured routines to support focus and comfort in daily life.
A functional capacity assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of your abilities and support needs. It helps determine what supports or funding you require under the NDIS and is often used to inform plan reviews or access requests.
OTs assist with organisational skills, adapting learning or work environments, building routines, and developing the practical skills needed for success in education or employment settings.

Occupational therapy can be funded through three NDIS support categories, depending on what’s needed. Capacity Building covers therapy sessions, assessments, and strategies that improve how a person manages daily tasks. Core Supports fund assistance with everyday activities when hands-on help is required—such as dressing, showering, or moving around safely. Capital Supports apply when equipment or home modifications are needed, including grab rails, ramps, or assistive technology recommended by an occupational therapist. Each category serves a different purpose, and the type of funding used depends on the service being delivered.
